CHARLOTTE - Johnson C. Smith University women's basketball took one from Bluefield State on Saturday afternoon, defeating the Big Blue, 54-51. The Golden Bulls moving to 5-7 (2-3 CIAA) on the year while Bluefield State drops to 9-5, 3-3 in the CIAA.
Najah Lane led the Golden Bulls with 15 points and three rebounds while
Queen Ruffin netted 13 points.Â
Ashlei Kirven rounded out the Golden Bulls double-figure scoring with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

JCSU connected on 40 percent (35-69) from the field with a 38 percent (7-19) night from behind the arc. The Golden Bull also hit on 68 percent (13-19) of their free throws.Â

JCSU will return to action on Thursday, Jan. 11 as they take on the Vikings of Elizabeth City State. Tip-off is slated for 5:30 p.m.
