Poor offensive rebounding as MBB falls 88-57, to Fayetteville State

FAYETTEVILLE - The Johnson C. Smith University men's basketball team fell short against the Fayetteville State Broncos, 88-57, Thursday evening inside Capel Arena. Avery Huggins led the offensive charge, scoring 10 points on 4-of-11 shooting to go along with three rebounds.   

Behind Huggins' performance, JCSU, 11-10, 6-9 in the CIAA and 2-6 in the Southern Division, shot 21-of-57 for 36.8-percent from the floor, 13-of-23 from the free throw line 56 percent and 2-of-13 (15-percent) from the 3-point line.

JCSU has to better on the boards as they only grabbed three offensive boards in the first half. In the second half there was a slim improvement as the Golden Bulls grabbed eight.

For the game JCSU totaled 34 to FSU 36 rebounds. 

FSU had its largest lead of 36 points leading 88-52.  

JCSU will regroup as they will host Saint Augustine's on Saturday, Feb. 10 at Brayboy Gymnasium.
