The Johnson C. Smith University women's bowling team season ended this past weekend as they fell in the loseres brackets of the 2024 CIAA (Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association) Bowling Championship at the Lee-Hi Lanes in Salem, Va.
Bracket Play
The opening round of the championship was met with a matchup between no. 1 Fayetteville State Broncos (FSU) versus. no. 8 Virginia State Trojans (VSU), no. 3. Virginia Union Panthers (VUU) versus no. 6 Johnson C. Smith Golden Bulls (JCSU), no. 4 Livingstone College Blue Bears (LC) versus no. 5 Elizabeth City State (ECSU), and no. 2 Bowie State Bulldogs (BSU) versus no. 7 Shaw Bears.
ROUND 1
FSU went 4-1 against VSU to advance to the second round, while the Blue Bears defeated ECSU after a seven-game battle for the winner's bracket. The Panthers of Virginia Union University collected a 4-2 victory over the Golden Bulls of Johnson C. Smith, and the Bulldogs of Bowie State won against Shaw, 4-1.
Moving on to the round 2 winners' bracket was FSU, LC, VUU, and BSU while VSU, ECSU, JCSU, and SU battled it out in the loser's bracket in hopes of bowling another round.
