ETTRICK, VA (November 10, 2025) — Johnson C. Smith Univeristy bowling team open the CIAA Bowling Event I on November 7–8, at Virginia State University . The two-day event featured competitive play across both team and individual categories, setting an early tone for a promising season ahead.
Johnson C. Smith finished 3-9 overall defeating Livingstone College twice and Shaw Universtiy. In the South Division, Fayetteville State University dominated with a perfect 12–0 record, totaling 7,936 total pins and 2,652 Baker pins. Shaw University (SU) followed at 5–7, while Livingstone College and Johnson C. Smith University rounded out the standings.
In the North Division, Bowie State University led with an 11–1 record and 7,055 total pins. Host Virginia State University finished second at 7–5, followed by Elizabeth City State University and Virginia Union University.
The opening event of the CIAA Bowling season showcased the depth and competitiveness across both divisions, with multiple student-athletes delivering standout performances. The CIAA extends appreciation to Virginia State University for hosting a successful event and to all participating institutions for their continued commitment to excellence.
The 2025–26 CIAA Bowling season continues with CIAA Event II, hosted by Elizabeth City State University, December 5–7.
