JCSU WBB handles Mars Hill winning, 67-48

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Johnson C. Smith University women's basketball turned in a dominant performance Saturday evening, powering past Mars Hill 67–48 at Brayboy Gymnasium. The Golden Bulls moved to 2–2 on the season with the victory, never trailing at any point in the contest.

JCSU opened the game with energy on both ends, racing to a 20–9 first-quarter lead behind efficient shooting and aggressive defense. The Golden Bulls carried a 36–29 advantage into halftime and continued to outpace Mars Hill in the second half, closing strong with a 19-7 fourth quarter to seal the win.

Tameia Shaw led all scorers with 15 points, shooting 7-of-12 from the floor while adding 4 assists and 2 steals. Salote Franklin provided a powerful two-way performance, finishing with 11 points and a team-high 6 rebounds.

La'Niya Simes anchored the interior with 10 points and 9 rebounds, narrowly missing a double-double, while Egypt Moore-Colman added 10 points off the bench. In total, the JCSU reserves accounted for 25 points, giving the Bulls steady production throughout the lineup.

Johnson C. Smith forced 15 turnovers, turning them into 17 points. The Golden Bulls also dominated the paint, outscoring Mars Hill 38–14 inside. Their physical presence on the boards led to a 38–30 rebounding advantage.

JCSU held Mars Hill to just 23.7% shooting and only 2 field goals in the fourth quarter. Led by Nyasia James' 6 assists and the combined 11 steals from the Golden Bulls defense, JCSU maintained control from start to finish.
