BOWIE, Md. – Johnson C. Smith came up just short in a tightly contested CIAA matchup, falling 73–71 to Bowie State (4-10, 2-1 CIAA) on Sunday afternoon at the A.C. Jordan Arena.

The game featured 10 ties and 11 lead changes, with both teams locked at 31–31 at halftime. Jared Davis led the Golden Bulls with 19 points, while Marc Raye Jr. added 14 off the bench.

Johnson C. Smith shot 45 percent from the field and got 25 points from its bench, but Bowie State sealed the win behind a game-high 22 points from Joseph Allen and a 20-for-28 performance at the free-throw line.

The Golden Bulls move to 3–6 overall and 1–2 in CIAA play.
