Golden Bulls Men Turn In Explosive Sprint and Jump Performances at Weekend Competition

CHARLOTTE - The Johnson C. Smith University men's track & field program produced a strong overall showing highlighted by podium finishes, depth in the sprints, and multiple top-five marks in the field events.

Sprints
JCSU opened the meet with competitive results in the 60 meters, led by junior Amontae Wray, who placed 19th in 7.00. Fellow junior Nicholas Francis followed just behind in 21st (7.01), while junior Jahvel Granville clocked 7.24.
The Golden Bulls dominated the 200 meters, securing four top-10 finishes.

Junior Caleb Baxter led the group with a runner up finish in 21.68, followed by freshman Christopher Coltrane-Gaston in 3rd (21.90). Freshmen Alexander Knight (5th, 22.14) and Princewell Martin (9th, 22.25) added to the impressive event sweep. In the seeded section, Francis ran 22.24 for 12th.
The team carried that momentum into the 400 meters.
Knight paced the Bulls with a 6th-place finish in 49.36, and Martin followed in 49.51. Coltrane-Gaston ran 50.40 to place 13th. Baxter added another exceptional performance in the 400, running 48.70 to place 6th overall.

Middle Distance & Distance
Sophomore Elijah Housley delivered strong efforts across two events—finishing 16th in the 800 meters (2:01.04) and 28th in the mile (4:48.92). Freshman Chrostopher Jone-McCalla posted a 2:04.32 in the 800.

Hurdles
The Bulls put two athletes inside the top eight of the 60m hurdles.
Wray doubled back to finish 6th in 8.27, with Granville right behind him in 7th at 8.33. Freshman Kobe Mack rounded out the group with an 8.87 for 18th.

Relays
In the 4x400 relay, the team of Coltrane-Gaston, Knight, Baxter, and Martin combined for a 7th-place finish in 3:24.17.

Jumps
Freshman Jameir Legette led the way in the high jump, clearing 1.94m to finish 5th. Sophomore Terrence McCutcheon followed with a 14th-place clearance of 1.79m.
The Golden Bulls produced a deep showing in the long jump, with freshman Lacy Joyner finishing 13th at 6.67m. Legette (6.57m), Mack (6.55m), and senior Jordae Wilson (6.25m) all logged competitive marks.
One of the day's strongest team performances came in the triple jump, where JCSU placed four athletes inside the top 18.
McCutcheon led the group with a 4th pace finishat 14.48, followed by freshman Divine Gee (6th, 14.34m) and Wilson (7th, 14.11m). Joyner added an 18th-place jump of 13.43m.

Throws
Junior Anthony Chatman posted strong results in both throwing events. He placed 16th in the shot put with a mark of 13.30m and followed up with a 13th-place finish in the weight throw, recording a season-best 14.13m. Sophomore Jeremiah Brown threw 12.95m in the shot put, while freshman Nadiir Miller reached 10.86m.
