Box Score CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Johnson C. Smith University remained unbeaten in CIAA play on Saturday, holding off Fayetteville State University 20-14 at Irwin Belk Complex.
The Golden Bulls improved to 3-1 overall and 2-0 in CIAA play, while Fayetteville State dropped to 2-2 overall and 1-1 in conference action.

After a scoreless first quarter, Fayetteville State struck first when Noah Marshall scored on a two-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. .

The Golden Bulls answered with a six-play, 53-yard drive capped by Kamarro Edmonds' five yard touchdown run with 4:45 left in the half. Alexis Rosario-Beltran's extra point tied the game at 7-7.

Rosario-Beltran then gave the Golden Bulls the lead at halftime with a 31-yard field goal as time expired, putting JCSU ahead 10-7.
Neither team scored in the third quarter, but the Golden Bulls extended their lead early in the fourth.

Rosario-Beltran connected on a 32-yard field goal, capping a 16-play, 76-yard that pushed the JCSU advantage to 13-7.

Fayetteville State answered with a 75-yard drive, with Jamir Dismukes breaking free for a 30-yard touchdown run. The Broncos' extra point put them ahead 14-13.

JCSU marched 75 yards on 12 plays, using 6:15 off the clock before Edmonds scored his second touchdown of the afternoon on a six-yard run with 49 seconds remaining. Rosario-Beltran's extra point gave the Golden Bulls a 20-14 lead.

Dismukes led Fayetteville State with 114 rushing yards, including a 58-yard run, while Unique Kelly added 45 yards.

Defensively, Vincent Hill led the Golden Bulls with 11 tackles, including seven solo stops and four assists, along with one tackle for loss for 5 yards. Jamaris Stevens recorded seven tackles, including two solo stops and five assists, with one tackle for loss for 4 yards and a pass breakup.
