Michael Austin begins his first season on the Golden Bulls’ coaching staff as a defensive assistant and secondary coach. His responsibilities include developing the defensive backs, conditioning, and working with the defensive coordinator to develop strategies.

Austin has coaching experiences from his tenure as an assistant coach at his alma mater Livingstone College under head coach George Johnson.

He also brings football experience as a former collegiate student-athlete. While at Livingstone, Austin was a four-year letterman (1994-98). The Blue Bears captured back to back CIAA Football Championships (1997, 1998) with Austin apart of the secondary.

In addition to coaching, Austin volunteers his time with the local “Big Brothers” program. He also enjoys fishing and cooking in his spare time.

Austin earned a bachelor's degree in Psychology from Livingstone. Along with his hobbies and volunteerism, he is also a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated.
