Biography

Jonathan Kelly enters his third season as an assistant coach, but his first season working with the quarterbacks. Kelly is no stranger to JCSU or Coach McNeill. He re-joins the Golden Bulls family from West Mecklenburg High School where he was the offensive coordinator in 2005. He is currently a physical education teacher at Randolph Middle School. Prior to West Mecklenburg, Kelly was the offensive coordinator and running backs coach at JCSU from 1997-2004. In 2001, one of his running backs, Jimmy Bell was named the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Offensive Player of the Year. He also coached the defensive backs at Savannah State University in 1995-97.

Kelly played quarterback under Coach McNeill at Savannah State University from 1992 until 1994. While attending East Central Community College, Kelly was selected team captain. He was later selected to the All-State second team and started in the Mississippi Junior College All-Star game.

In 1993, Kelly earned his associate of arts degree in liberal arts from East Central Community College and in 1996 received his bachelor[apos]s degree in park and recreation administration from Savannah State. He earned a master[apos]s degree in secondary education from the University of Phoenix. The Philadelphia, Miss. native is married to the former Kristene Brathwaite and together they have a son Jonathan, Jr. (5).
