Tony Wills enters his first season with the Johnson C Smith men's basketball program, bringing six years of collegiate coaching experience to the staff.
Most recently, Wills coached at Indiana University-Indianapolis for the 2024-25 season where he helped the program to the most wins in a single season since 2019. Wills has also coached at the University of Illinois-Chicago, Southern Illinois University, and his alma mater, Illinois State University. Over the course of his career, Wills' responsibilities have included player development, recruiting, scouting, coordinating of defensive game plans, overseeing academics, facilitating program camps, and leading campus and community engagement efforts. Wills has recruited, coached, and helped develop multiple All-Conference selections over the course of his career.
Wills was a stand-out player at Illinois State, making 71 career starts. As a senior in 2016-17, he started 32 games for a 28-7 Redbird squad that won a share of the MVC regular-season title with a program best 17-1 league record. Wills was named to the MVC's All-Defensive team after the season.
Wills is a native of Indianapolis, Indiana where he was an All-State player at Ben Davis High School.
