Coach McKenzie brings a wealth of experience, passion and dedication to the program and is committed to leading the team to success both on and off the field.
 
McKenzie’s coaching journey has taken him through various levels of collegiate and travel athletics, shaping him into a dedicated mentor and leader. He has a proven track record of building strong, competitive teams while fostering individual growth and developing a positive team culture.
 
McKenzie comes to JCSU after serving as the Head Softball Coach at Colorado Northwestern Community College, where he focused on player development, instilling a competitive spirit, and building a cohesive team culture.
 
Prior to Colorado Northwestern Community College, he was the assistant coach at North Carolina A&T, where he worked closely with exceptional student-athletes, contributing to their success both academically and athletically. His coaching career began as a graduate assistant coach at Claflin University, his alma mater, where he gained invaluable experience and developed a deeper passion for coaching.
 
McKenzie graduated from Claflin University, where he earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees. As a student-athlete, he was a standout baseball pitcher at Claflin University and Paine College and competed as a baseball infielder for four years in high school. Beyond his collegiate career, he served as the Head Travel Baseball Coach from 2021 to 2022, helping young athletes develop their skills and achieve their goals on the diamond.
