Ramona Staton is in her fifth season of the JCSU Women's Tennis program. Staton recently was promoted to Head Men's and Women's Tennis Coach in Spring 2020.

While at JCSU, Staton has reached the finals of the CIAA Women's Tennis Championships in 2017 and 2018. The Golden Bulls have also had the highest team GPA at JCSU during those years as well.

Staton is no stranger to the Charlotte area tennis community and collegiate coaching. Staton served as a Tennis Professional at the Cobblestone Park Golf Club in Blythewood, S.C. from 2010-2014. While there she provided private tennis instruction as well as group instruction for junior and adult players.

Her collegiate coaching experience includes serving as the Head Women’s Tennis Coach at Queens University of Charlotte from 2005-2007. While at Queens, she led the Royals to a 20-24 overall record and 10-10 in Conference Carolinas play.  Staton had the privilege of coaching two all-conference and all-tournament tennis players and an honorable mention doubles players during her time with the Royals.

A North Carolina native, she played her collegiate tennis as the No. 1 singles and doubles at Benedict College in Columbia, SC from 1999-2002. After Benedict, she earned her Master of Science degree in Athletic Administration/Sports Management from Indiana University.  Staton was a recipient of a graduate assistantship award and served as a GA for Special Events with the Division of Recreational Sports at Indiana University. Through her assistantship, Staton planned the monthly Family Fun Night program while earning her Masters. 

Staton is a Certified Pro with the USPTA and holds a 5.0 rating with the USTA.
