Hamish Reed

  • Title
    Assistant Coach, Men's Basketball
Hamish Reed joins the Johnson C. Smith University Golden Bulls with a lifelong commitment to developing young men of virtue, leadership, and strong core values. A graduate of Oral Roberts University, Reed brings a diverse background in healthcare, ministry, mentorship, and collegiate athletics.

Reed spent 17 years leading a family-owned medical distribution company with both national and international reach, and his career has largely been spent as a healthcare executive. Throughout his professional life, one of Reed’s greatest passions has been investing in the young men he worked alongside—helping them grow into providers, strong leaders, and men of integrity.

An ordained pastor for six years, Reed has been discipling and mentoring men for much longer through a variety of volunteer and philanthropic roles. He also has a longstanding commitment to children from hard places, particularly those involved in the foster care system.

Through Nation of Coaches, Reed has brought his passion for mentorship and leadership development into collegiate athletics. He spent two years serving with Florida Atlantic University before continuing to Catawba College, where he spent another two years working alongside student-athletes and coaches.

Reed is excited to join the Golden Bulls as Character Coach, where he will continue investing in student-athletes both on and off the court, helping them grow as leaders, teammates, and men prepared to make a positive impact in their families and communities.

Reed has been married to his wife, Dione, for 48 years. He is a father of three and a proud grandfather of three.
