Keiana Love had a victorious day against Fayetteville State in No. 1 singles and doubles
Charlotte, NC – The Johns on C. Smith University women's tennis team blanked Fayetteville State University 9-0 in a CIAA Southern Divisional match on April 12th at the Hornet's Nest Tennis Courts. JCSU finishes the regular season with a record of 9-9 overall, 9-3 in the CIAA, and 4-0 in the division.
The senior combination of
Felicia Akande (Winston-Salem, NC) and
Keiana Love (Wilson, NC) topped Samantha Ledbetter and Taylor Norris in the first doubles flight 8-6. The junior duo of
Rankin Anderson (Decatur, GA) and
Nichelle Heard (Douglasville, GA) defeated Selena Cox and Vanaysha Graham in the number doubles position by a score of 8-1. Sophomore
Khadijha Battle (Atlanta, GA) and freshman
Victoria Ogundipe (Jonesboro, GA) pulled an 8-0 shutout for a victory in the third doubles position.
Love claimed a victory against Ledbetter (6-1, 6-1) in the number singles spot. Anderson only allowed one point in two sets (6-1, 6-0) in a win over Norris at the second singles position. Battle, Akande, Heard, and Ogundipe all recorded (6-0, 6-0) wins in the three, four, five, and six singles positions, respectively.
The Golden Bulls will now head to Petersburg, VA for the 2014 CIAA Spring Sports Festival. Competition for the 2014 CIAA Tennis Championships will begin on Thursday, April 17th on the campus of Virginia State University.
