JCSU Volleyball Downs Benedict 3-0 on Senior Night
Charlotte, N.C. (Nov. 2, 2017) –The Johnson C. Smith University volleyball team continued their winning ways, downing visiting Benedict College 3-0 (25-17, 25-13, 26-24) in a nonconference match on Senior Night at Brayboy Gym.
The win improves JCSU to 15-6 overall while Benedict falls to 12-11. JCSU had two players contribute seven kills each, with freshman
Karina Pressoir (Orlando, Fla.) and junior
Anteesha Smoots (San Antonio, Tex.) leading the way. Fellow junior
Gorana Bogdanovic (Belgrade, Serbia) and senior
Maya Washington (West Columbia, S.C.) also had successful outings, with each knocking down six kills.
Senior setter
Azha McNeil (Fayetteville, N.C.) continued her stellar season, handing out 27 assists and recording eight digs on the night.Â
Makayla Adams (Michigan City, Ind.) led JCSU defensively, finishing with seven total blocks, two coming solo and five assisted. JCSU's other senior,
Amirah Burnett (Baltimore, Md.) managed a kill, an assist, one dig and one solo block in the win.
Sophomore libero
Georgina Diaz (Lincolnton, N.C.) had 21 digs to up her season total to 307.
The Golden Bulls will jump back into CIAA Southern Division play on Monday, Nov. 6, hosting Winston-Salem State at 6:00 p.m. in the final home match of the season.
