JCSU Volleyball Falls to Shaw, 3-0
Raleigh, N.C. (Sept. 25, 2017) – The Johnson C. Smith University volleyball team dropped its first CIAA match of the season 3-0 (19-25, 18-25, 8-25) to Shaw on Monday night at Spaulding Gym.
The Golden Bulls (6-2, 4-1 CIAA, 1-1 Southern Division) committed 20 errors on the night and allowed the Bears to hit .219 in the loss.
Leading JCSU was led by
Maya Washington (West Columbia, S.C.), as she had seven kills on the night while hitting .263.Â
Makayla Adams (Michigan City, Ind.) and
Gorana Bogdanovic (Belgrade, Serbia) had six and four kills, respectively in the loss while
Cydnney Calhoun (Cleveland, Ohio) dished eight assists. Defensively, JCSU sophomore
Georgina Diaz (Lincolnton, N.C.) had 15 digs.
Shaw (13-2, 5-0 CIAA, 2-0 Southern Division) got nine kills each from Saraya Klink and Kelly Murphy.
JCSU will hit the road for their next three matches, participating in the second CIAA roundup. The Golden Bulls will take on host Lincoln and Chowan on Saturday, Sept. 30 and will wrap play up on Sunday, Oct. 1 with a match against Virginia Union.
