Golden Bulls Golf Finishes Sixth at the CIAA Championship

New Kent, Va. (April 20, 2018) – The Johnson C. Smith University golf team completed play in the CIAA Championship, finishing in sixth place at The Club at Viniterra in New Kent, Va.

The Golden Bulls were paced by junior DeJuan Powell, as the junior from Atlanta fired a 6-over par 78 on day two. Powell finished the two-day event tied for fourth place with a 155 (+11), earning All-Tournament and All-CIAA honors.

Glenn Canty (Durham, N.C.) shot an 86 to finish in 21^st place with a 172 (+28).

Teammate Tyler Jolly (Augusta, Ga.) managed a  89 on day two, finishing in 25^th place with a 175 (+31

Rounding out JCSU's scoring was Myles Moore (Atlanta, Ga.) with an 94, registering a two-day total of 183 (+37), good for a tie for 27^th. Austin Beatty (Mt. Holly, N.C.) had a 105 on day two, finishing with a 216 (+72) and in 36^th place.

In the team competition, Livingstone won the team title with a two-day tally of 635 (+59).  Individually, Fayetteville State's Isaiah Shaw and Virginia Union's Robel Woldagabriel finished in a tie for first  with a 153 (+9). Shaw would claim the medalist honors in the first hole of a sudden-death playoff.
