SANFORD, N.C. – The Johnson C. Smith University men's golf team finished in ninth place at the two day CIAA Southern Division Tournament with a +116 at Quail Ridge hosted by Fayetteville State University.
The Golden Bulls posted a three-round team score of +116. Tournament champion Bluefield State shot a (+48) , while Winston-Salem State placed second with (+53), as host school Fayetteville State (+55) finished third.
Leading the way for JCSU was D'Yanni Rhyne, who turned in a solid performance with a round of 78 (+6). Rhyne was steady on both nines, carding matching 39s, and stayed composed despite a few difficult holes.
Pedro Haddad followed with an 81 (+9), putting together a competitive round that included stretches of strong shot-making. Haddad's front nine 42 kept him within striking distance.
Joseph DeRosa finished with an 84 (+12). He posted 42 on both nines, demonstrating consistency, though a few costly holes prevented him from climbing higher on the leaderboard.
Carter Houchins carded an 88 (+16), with a 43 on the front nine before finishing with a 45.
Rounding out the group, William Johnson shot a 96 (+24). After a 42 on the front nine, he faced a difficult back nine, finishing with a 54.
