Box Score Despite not playing in 11 days, the JCSU volleyball team continued their winning ways with a 3-0 road win over St. Augustine's, Thursday night in Raleigh.
The Golden Bulls swept the Lady Falcons in three straight sets and only trailed once, early in the first set.
Six of the players who participated for JCSU had four or more kills led by
Anteesha Smoots who recorded a game high 11 kills.
Taylor Smith contributed 8 kills and 7 blocks (4 solo) to the winning effort while
Joi Haywood recorded 25 assists.
Geogina Diaz (12 digs) and Gorana Bogdavonic (11 digs) a defensive effort that limited St. Aug to just 14 kills for the match.
The Lady Falcons were led by Janina Mayers with six kills and 10 digs. Alyssa Smith had four blocks (3 solo) for SAU.
JCSU improves to 6-4 overall (4-0 CIAA) while SAU falls to 1-6 (1-3 CIAA).
The Golden Bulls return to action Saturday and Sunday when they travel to Winston-Salem for the second CIAA Volleyball Round Up of the season.
JCSU will meet Virginia State at 11 a.m. followed by a 1:00 p.m. contest against Chowan. Sunday, the Golden Bulls will close out cross division play against Elizabeth City State at 10 a.m. All matches will be played on the campus of Winston-Salem State University.
