In an evenly matched contest that included 8 ties, Johnson C. Smith men's basketball experienced another second half cold spell in dropping a 76-62 game to Saint Augustine's Wednesday night in Raleigh. The Golden Bulls went scoreless in the final 7 minutes of the game while St. Aug went on a 18-3 run to take their first Southern Division victory of the season.
JCSU was led by Cayce Minor with 24 points while
Roddric Ross contributed 10 points. Minor was having a special night hitting 7 of 8 field goals and 9 of 10 free throws. He even took down eight rebounds.
But that all changed at 6:11 of the second half.
Minor fouled out of the game and the Golden Bulls could not remove the lid on the basket for the remainder of the game.
St. Aug's improves to 5-12 overall and 1-3 in the CIAA South.
The Golden Bulls fall to 4-11 overall while suffering their second division loss at 0-2
JCSU returns to action Saturday, when they travel to Salisbury to face Livingstone College. Tip off is set for 4:00 p.m. in New Trent Gymnasium
