JCSU Falls to Fayetteville State, 3-1

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -  The Johnson C. Smith University women's volleyball fell to the Broncos of Fayetteville State on Thursday night in a Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Southern Division match inside Brayboy Gymnasium.

With the loss, the Golden Bulls falls to 4-8,3-6,2-4 in conference play while Fayetteville State improve to 4-8,3-6,2-4 in the CIAA in division standings. 

The Golden Bulls were led by Taylor Smith who had a game-high six kills in the win. Gabrielle Wells and Brianne Davis both tallied four kills, respectively.

Leading the setters was Elyse Bonnett who finished with 16 assists while Cydney Calhoun added three. Joi Haywood recorded 10 digs while Calhoun gabbed eight stops on the night.

Smith will continue their road slate at Bowie, Maryland to participate in the CIAA Roundup No. two on Oct. 19-20.
