Volleyball welcomes Livingstone for CIAA Matchup

CHARLOTTE - The Johnson C. Smith University women's volleyball squad will host World Mental Health Day in honor of Mental Illness Awareness Month on Thursday, Oct. 10 during their 6 p.m., Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Southern Division match with Livingstone College inside the historic Brayboy Gymnasium.

The Golden Bulls are encouraging all fans and spectators to wear green to show support and raise awareness for the countless lives mental illness has affected.

World Mental Health Day (sponsored by WHO) World Mental Health Day is observed on October 10 every year, with the overall objective of raising awareness of mental health issues around the world and mobilizing efforts in support of mental health. The Day provides an opportunity for all working on mental health issues to talk about their work, and what more needs to be done to make mental health care a reality for people worldwide.

During the CIAA Roundups at Virginia State University, the Golden Bulls of Johnson C. Smith University was swept in three sets (25-18, 25-19, 25-16) for the opening contest, hosted by the VSU Trojans.

In the second match on Saturday, Virginia Union came from a 2-0 game deficit to defeat Johnson C. Smith University 3-2 (25-27. 22-25, 25-20, 25-16, 15-3).

On the final day, JCSU defeated Lincoln (Pa.) 3-0.

The Golden Bulls are currently 3-5 overall and 2-3 within the league while posting a 1-1 mark in the South.
