Malia Rivers had a huge second half, scoring 12 points to help lift the Johnson C. Smith University women's basketball team to an 79-65 victory over Mount Olive Saturday afternoon at Brayboy Gym.
The victory gives JCSU its third win on the season at 3-1 overall while MO falls to 2-1 on the year.
Rivers had just seven points in the first half but managed to have become the games leading scorer with 19 points her fourth double scoring on the season.
Kensey Ferguson added 13 points in the win.
The Golden Bulls produced a 10-2 lead in the the first quarter after a layup from Rivers. MO responded with a layup of their own before knocking dow
MO put together a 5-2 scoring margin over the Golden Bulls in the third quarter. However A couple of jumpers and free throws down the stretch sealed the win for JCSU.
Azariah Fields led the Trojans with 20 points and 4 rebounds while Kiara Jackson poured in 15 points.
The Golden Bulls will return to action Thursday, Nov. 21 when they play host to Virginia State University in their CIAA opener. Tip-off is slated for 5:30 p.m.
