Va. Union snaps JCSU four game win streak.

CHARLOTTE N.C. – The Johnson C. Smith University women's basketball team saw their win-streak of four games snapped as the visiting Panthers of Virginia Union stopped in Charlotte. The Golden Bulls dropped a 77-74 decision to the Panthers inside Brayboy Gym on Saturday afternoon.

The loss drops the Golden Bulls to 9-9 and 5-4 on the season. VUU extend their wins to 16-2 and 7-1 in the CIAA.

JCSU was led by Le'Zarea Bowens who scored a career high of 28 points and Aubriana Bonner scored 15 points. Bowens also grabbed 14 rebounds.

In the second half, Union built a lead as large as 11-points (49-38) but that would be erased as the Gold and Blue rallied from that deficit to close the gap to 54-48 at the end of the third quarter. VUU was able to hold on to a lead of three points at the most before JCSU made mini run before falling 77-74.

Shameka McNeill led the Panthers in scoring with a game-high 20 points and three rebounds while Ifunanya Okay chipped in 16 points.
