CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Johnson C. Smith University men's basketball team shot 12-13 from behind the three-point line to defeat the Panthers of Virginia Union University Saturday afternoon inside the historic Brayboy Gymnasium.
Senior Nenad Milenkovic finished with a game-high 36 points, two rebounds and two steals while Michael Roberson scored 17 points and Austin Nelson chipped in 12 points and eight rebounds.
As a team, the Golden Bulls shot 46 percent (27-60) from the field and 71 percent (30-41) from the free-throw line and held a 13-10 advantage in second chance opportunities.
Down nine in the second half, Union rallied back, not allowing a Golden Bull field goal in the last 1:46. Union in the final two seconds of the game snuck in a tip in to tie and force overtime.
Smith will return to action on Monday, Jan. 27 when they travel to Raleigh to face the Falcons of Saint Augustine's University, inside Emery Gymnasium. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 p.m
