CHARLOTTE - Johnson C. Smith turned its hard-nosed defense into a crucial conference win.Â
The Golden Bulls forced 17 turnovers and limited Livingstone College to 31.8% shooting from the field and 11.1% on 3-pointers and rolled to a 58-50 win on Saturday at Brayboy Gym.Â
JCSU opened the game with a 21-16 lead and survived numerous Livingstone second-half runs to finally secure its seventh home win in 10 tries and seven game win streak. The victory gives JCSU (16-9, 11-5 CIAA, 8-2 Div) a sweep in the season series between two clubs and keeps the Golden Bulls for second place in the division behind Fayetteville State.Â
The Gold and Blue had three players in double figures:
Le'Zarea Bowens with 18, Aubruana Bonner with 10 and
Maiya Green with 10.Â
