Golden Bulls gets first win of season against Newberry, 66-63

CHARLOTTE - Xaiver Jones scored 21 points to lead Johnson C. Smith University men's basketball to a 66-63 victory against Newberry College on Saturday afternoon inside Eleazer Arena. The Golden Bulls improve to 1-1 on the season while the Wolves drop to 0-2 overall.
 
The Golden Bulls were able to weather a late attack from the Wolves and ultimately took control down the stretch.

Three other players recorded double-figure scoring for Johnson C. Smith, including Stephen Sherrill who netted 18 points, Chaz Gwyn dropped 17 on the night while Augustine Ominu recorded a double-double 12 points and 10 rebounds.
 
JCSU will return to action on Friday, Nov. 19 when they host Bluefield Sate for a non-conference tilt in historic Brayboy Gymnasium. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 p.m.
