JCSU Women’s Basketball earns second win against Albany St.

CHARLOTTE - The Johnson C. Smith University women's basketball team earned its second win on the season with a 67-56 victory over Albany State University, Saturday afternoon on the final day of the CIAA-SIAC Challenge.
 
The victory improves JCSU to 2-0 on the young season while Albany State dropped to 0-2 on the year.
 
Ciara Harris led the Golden Bulls with 15 points and eight rebounds while Shaniya Jones netted 12 points. Aubriana Bonner rounded out the Golden Bulls double-figure scoring with 11 points and three rebounds.
 
The contest featured the Golden Bulls largest lead of 23 as JCSU held a 42-32 edge on the boards and 40 points in the paint.
 
JCSU connected on 45 percent (28-62) from the field with a 36.3 percent (4-11) night from behind the arc. The Golden Bull also hit on 58 percent (7-12) of their free throws. Albany State shot 37.3 percent (22-59) from the floor with a 30.0 percent effort (9-30) from three-point range for the game, in addition to its 33.3 percent (3-9) from the charity stripe.
 
The Golden Bulls return to action Wednesday, Nov. 17 for its home opener versus Glenville State at 6 p.m.
