CHARLOTTE - The Johnson C. Smith University women's basketball team fell 49-48 to the host Bulldogs of Bowie State University on Tuesday night inside A.C. Jordan Arena. The loss dips the Golden Bulls (5-4) to an 0-1 start in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) as the Bulldogs (3-5) improve to 1-0 against league opponents.
Shaniya Jones scored a game-high 17 points to go along with three rebounds, three steals and two assists while 
Aubriana Bonner added 12 points and dished out two assists.
 
For the contest, both teams shot over 40-percent from the field and Bowie connected 7-of-14 free-throws (50%) but the Golden Bulls were outscored 26-24 in the paint.
JCSU will return to action on Thursday, Dec. 16 versus Lincoln (Pa.) University for a CIAA cross division contest. Tip-off is slated for 5:30 p.m.
