MBB Falls to Bowie State, 75-60

CHARLOTTE - The Johnson C. Smith University men's basketball team fell short against the Bowie State Bulldogs, 75-60, Tuesday night at the A.C. Jordan Arena. Xavier Jones led the offensive charge, scoring 16 points on 5-of-8 shooting to go along with 14 rebounds.
 
Behind Jones' performance, JCSU (3-6. 0-1) shot 22-of-64 for 34.9-percent from the floor, 11-of-13 from the free throw line (84.3-percent) and 5-of-18 (27-percent) from the 3-point line. The Golden Bulls finished with a big 39-36 advantage on the glass, including 20-11 lead in second chance points.

Two other players joined Jones in double figures. Stephen Sherrill had a good night, recording 12 points on 4-of-12 shooting while Augustine Ominu added 10 points and 15 rebounds.

JCSU will have a quick turnaround on Thursday as they face the Lions of Lincoln (Pa.) that features a 7:30 p.m., tip to wrap up the 2021 portion of the schedule.
