MBB Falls to ECSU, 61-47

CHARLOTTE - The Johnson C. Smith University men's basketball team had a rough second half and fell to Elizabeth City State University, 61-47 inside Brayboy Gym Saturday afternoon for a Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) contest.

The Golden Bulls shot just 32-percent (17-of-52) from the floor and 13-percent (2-of-15) from the 3-point line while the Vikings hit 22-of-51 shots (43-percent) and charted 5-of-21 (23-percent) from long distance.

The setback dipped JCSU (3-8) to 0-3 in CIAA action while ECSU (10-5) now stands 3-1 in the league.

Augustine Ominu finished with a game-high 19 points, and five rebounds while Xavier Jones tallied 13 points and four rebounds.

Deandre Wilkins paced the Vikings with 13 points and six rebounds while Jayden Beloti added 13 points and Gabe Kirkendoll contributed 11 points and seven rebounds.

JCSU will return to action Monday, Jan. 10 hosting the Trojans of Virginia State University. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
