Uncasville, Conn. -  The Johnson C. Smith University men's basketball team ran into a hot-shooting Xavier (LA) squad on Tuesday night, falling to the Nuggets, 67-49 in the first day of the Chris Paul HBCU Tip-Off Tournament at the Mohegan Sun Arena.

The loss dips JCSU to 1-2 on the season while Xavier now stands 4-0.

Ezekiel Cannedy led the way for JCSU with 11 points, including while notching five assists, four rebounds and two steals. Javon Floyd registered 10 points and Jataveous Watson posted 11 points and four rebounds the setback. 

For Xavier (LA), L. Williams charted 15 points while X. Reaves added 14 points. 

JCSU finished the game, shooting 41.1-percent (18-43) from the field compared to Xavier's 50.6-percent (25-50).

The Golden Bulls will return to action Wednesday, Nov. 16 against Clark Atlanta in the Consolation game which will be aired on ESPNU. The game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
