JCSU does well at Queen City Invite

CHARLOTTE, N.C.  – The Johnson C. Smith University men's and women's cross country teams put together a competitive showing at the Queen City Invite Friday afternoon at McAlpine Park, hosted by Queens University.
 
The Golden Bulls finished 11th  among 16 teams while the men's team placed 16 overall.

On the women's side, Trinity Bellamy-Reid overall individually led the pack of Golden Bulls with a time of 22:23 while junior Jordyn Head finished with a time of  (23:26) and Markayla Taylor rounded out with a finishing time of 27:05. The field had 111 runners in the event.
 
Benedict took home first place with 56 total points, followed by Belmont Abbey (62) and Southern Wesleyan (108) in second and third, respectively.

Amongst 139 runners on the men's side, JCSU's Terry Towah crossed the finish line with a time of 33:28, while Javion Watkins posted a mark with a time of 35:24
 
Reinhardt placed first overall as a unit with a total of 47 points. Lenior-Rhyne and Belmont Abbey took home the silver and bronze medals with 58 and 96 points, respectively.

JCSU men's and women's cross country will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 1 at the HBCU Great American Challenge in Cary, N.C.
