Box Score CHARLOTTE– The Johnson C. Smith University women's volleyball team suffered a tough 3-2 (25-15, 25-19,25-9, 25-25 and 16-14) loss to Winston-Salem State in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Southern Division matchup on Thursday afternoon inside historic Brayboy Gymnasium.
The Golden Bulls (3-7, 2-3 CIAA) had one player to finish with double-digit kills on the afternoon as
Daivez Bell led the team with 12 kills.
Yasmine Cannon led the setters with 25 assists, and also led with 14 digs.
All five sets were very competitive, making the match exciting from beginning to end. In the first set, the Rams took a convincing lead to en route to a 25-15 win. Set three started out slow for JCSU falling behind 25-9.
The Golden Bulls would respond in the fourth set when they started out with an 2-0 lead. JCSU would never trail in the set to claim the victory.
In the final set, both teams exchanged hits but WSSU found their groove halfway after an attack error by kill for the Lady Rams.
