JCSU Football wins 30-13 over Bluefield State

CHARLOTTE |   Robert Adams started for the Golden Bulls and rushed for one touchdown to lead Johnson C. Smith University to a 30-13 win over Bluefield State University at Irwin Belk Complex on Saturday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Golden Bulls capped a 26-yard field goal from Al Garcia on a nine-play drive in the first quarter.
  • On 13 plays the Golden Bulls again booted a 28 yarder to take a 3-0 in the second quarter.
  • A 19-yard run by Robert Adams pushed the Golden Bulls lead 13-0 with 5:10 to play in the second quarter.
  • JCSU special teams provided the next seven points on a blocked punt returned by Daryl Taybron to make the score 20-0 at halftime.
  • Jahdi Loftland exploded for a 56-yard run to get Big Blue on the board to start the third quarter, cutting the lead 20-7.
  • Garcia added his third field goal of the night from 22-yards away to push the lead to 23-7 with 6:52 to go in the contest.
  • Jacob Newman ran in from five yards out to extend the lead 30-7.
  • Big Blue got on the board for the final score 30-17
OFFENSIVE NOTABLES
  • Robert Adams completed 7-of-16 passes for 45 yards and rushed in for one touchdown.
  • Brevin Caldwell finished with three catches for 20.
