Round one goes to Livingstone; JCSU falls 77-71

CHARLOTTE - The Johnson C Smith University men's basketball team led as much as 10 points but fell short in the 77-71 loss to Livingstone College in a Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Southern Division contest on Tuesday at New Trent gym.

The loss dips the Golden Bulls (10-7, 5-5 CIAA,) standings while the Blue Bears improve to 8-10, 4-5 CIAA.

JCSU finished the game shooting 37 percent (20-70) from the field and 7-of-18 from long distance (38.3-percent). The Golden Bulls were led by Ezekiel Cannedy who finished with 17 points, shooting 5-of-11 from the field. Javon Anderson recorded 13 points. Avery Huggins chipped in 11 and grabbed 13 rebounds.

The Golden Bulls will face Claflin University on Saturday, Jan. 27, in Orangeburg S.C. Tip- off is set for 4:00 p.m.
