CHARLOTTE - The Johnson C. Smith University (6-7, 3-3) women's basketball shot 52.9 percent from the field but fell to Bluefield State University, 66-64, in a CIAA cross division matchup on Monday night . The Golden Bulls knocked down 69.2 percent of their shots in the third quarter.
The Golden Bulls dominated the glass 39–26, led by La'Niya Simes' 13 points and
Salote Franklin's double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds. JCSU controlled the interior throughout the contest, scoring 46 points in the paint while also generating 13 second-chance points. The Golden Bulls' depth from the bench contributed 24 points, helping maintain momentum across all four quarters.
Jasmine Jenkins and Jayla Sample paced Bluefield State with 16 points apiece, while Jhakia Gist added 13 on an efficient 4-for-6 shooting, including three triples.
