CHARLOTTE - Johnson C. Smith University men's basketball team pulled away in the second half to earn a 71–52 CIAA win over Elizabeth City State University on Thursday night at Brayboy Gymnasium, improving to 5–7 overall and 3–2 in conference play.
The Golden Bulls took a 32–20 lead into halftime and extended it after the break behind a game-high 23 points from
Trey Pettigrew, who shot 9-of-16 from the field.
Jared Davis added 12 points, while Marc Raye Jr. chipped in 12 off the bench as Johnson C. Smith shot 47.3 percent overall and
outscored the Vikings 39–32 in the second half.
The Vikings (2–8, 1–4 CIAA) was led by Donovan Flamer's 19 points and nine rebounds, but struggled from long range, hitting just 2-of-13 from three-point territory.
The Golden Bulls also held a 21–11 advantage in bench points.
