CHARLOTTE  – Johnson C. Smith University Golden Bulls softball team fell in both ends of a CIAA doubleheader against Winston-Salem State Rams on Saturday afternoon, falling 14-0, 12-8.

In game one, Winston-Salem State (6-15, 3-6 CIAA) controlled the contest from the outset, using a six-run second inning to power a 14-0 run-rule victory. The Rams totaled 13 hits, led by A. Smith's three-hit, three-RBI performance. JCSU (9-31, 1-10 CIAA) managed just one hit, coming from Skylar Bledsoe, while drawing seven walks but leaving eight runners on base. Jahzira Hogan took the loss in the circle, while K. Morin earned the win.

The Golden Bulls responded with a stronger offensive showing in game two but ultimately came up short in a 12-8 loss.

JCSU jumped out early, scoring four runs in the first two innings, highlighted by an RBI single from Aniylah Lane and a two-RBI hit from DazeJah Lanham. The Golden Bulls extended their lead to 6-2 after a two-run double by Jahzira Hogan in the fourth.

Winston-Salem State (8-15) answered with a decisive five run fifth inning to take control and added insurance runs late to secure the sweep. Despite the loss, JCSU collected 12 hits, with Lanham leading the way with a perfect 4-for-4 performance and two RBIs. Logan Masinky added two hits, while Hogan contributed two RBIs.

The Golden Bulls plated runs in six of seven innings and showed aggressiveness on the bases with multiple stolen bases, but defensive miscues proved costly as JCSU committed five errors in the game.

Logan Masinky was charged with the loss, while N. Cruz earned the win for Winston-Salem State.
Johnson C. Smith will look to regroup as they continue CIAA play in their upcoming games.
