Coach Sampson enters his second season as TE’S and H-Backs coach at Johnson C. Smith University. Sampson comes to JCSU with over a decade of coaching experience. Sampson has coached over a dozen former and present college athletes while being around some of the game's greatest offensive and defensive minds.
Sampson’s coaching career started in VA and led him back to his hometown of Charlotte, NC. Coach Sampson has been on both sides of the ball and has helped programs rebuild and win championships. Sampson was on a Charlotte Christian staff that won 3 state titles. While at Christian, Sampson learned under now UNC-Charlotte offensive coordinator Mike Miller. The Christian offense produced 40 points a game and helped the Knights reach the state championship game. Defensively, Sampson learned under coaches Bryan Knight (former Chicago Bears LB), Eugine Robinson(former Atlanta Falcons DB), and Mike Rose (Former coach at the University of Michigan and the University of Indiana).
After leaving Charlotte Christian, Sampson went on to coach running backs and become special team coordinator at Harding University High school then, to Garinger High School as the defensive coordinator. Sampson's most recent stop was at South Mecklenburg High School, where he coached LB’S and helped turn around a program that went from missing the playoffs to a 2nd round exit the following year.
While at South, Sampson was a part of a program that saw more than half of its senior class go on to play at the next level and one currently playing professionally.

Originally from Charlotte, N.C., Sampspn started hi coaching career in Glade Spring, VA in 2013.
