Montez McCrae is entering his 10th overall coaching and fourth in College. McCrae is the Offensive Line/Tight End Coach and Academic Liaison, and handles the recruiting. During the 2019 season, his Offensive Line led the way for Emanuel Wilson in where he rushed for over 1,000 yards the first at JCSU since 2012. Wilson was named Rookie of the Year in the CIAA. McCrae also coached Alvin Brown who was second team All CIAA. In 2018 the offensive line helped Antonio Wallace who earned first team All CIAA at Quarterback. In 2018 over 25 team members had a 3.0 GPA and Higher.
Prior to the 2016 season he went on to Fayetteville State as the Offensive Line/Tight End Coach and Academic Liaison. He led the Offensive Line was helped for Stevey Green, who rushed for over 1,000 Yards in 8 Games, earning him Rookie of the Year Honors. His Offensive Lineman Kion Smith earned third Team All CIAA. The team finished second in the South with a 4-1 .
McCrae started his coaching career at Southern Durham HS from 2009-2016 where he was the Offensive Line Coach and Recruiting Coordinator. While at Southern Durham he led the team to four conference Championship, Two Regional Championship and won a State Championship in 2013, where the team finished 14-2. From 2009-2016 McCrae led over 40 young men on the D1-D2-D3 Programs. From 2013-2016 In the span of three years the team had an overall record of 39-7.
He is the father of twin boys Matthew and Trenten McRae, and a Proud Member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated.
