Randy Pulley is in his first season as an assistant coach with the Golden Bulls, following a remarkable season with the Tarleton State Texans in 2023-24. At Tarleton, he was a huge contributor to their record-setting 25-win season, second-place WAC finish, and strong postseason run.

Pulley's coaching experience includes several standout seasons spanning across Virginia State University, Shelton State CC, New Mexico JC, Colby Community College, and Talladega College, as well as 7 years as a head coach in high school. Throughout his tenure, Pulley has been pivotal in recruiting and developing athletes at the NCAA, NAIA, JUCO, and professional levels.

As a player, he was recognized as the No. 1 Junior College point guard in the country, and Big 12 Newcomer of the Year at Missouri. Pulley is also committed to youth development, having coached and mentored young athletes through the elite Team CP3 (EYBL) program. With this opportunity, Pulley had the chance to impact many of the nation’s top high school athletes, including several current and future professionals.

His goal at every level is to help players realize that the game extends beyond the 94-foot court, as he guides them through their challenges and growth as both students and athletes.

As a natural leader and competitor, Coach Pulley brings to Johnson C. Smith his extensive sports IQ, expertise in scouting/analytics, commitment to player development, and undying devotion to winning and bringing out the best in our team.
Pulley is a native of Raleigh, NC, and holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Talladega College. He is currently pursuing his master's degree in Management and Leadership.

Yet, of all his accomplishments, he is most proud to be a husband, to his wife, Precious, and doting father to his daughter, Rhyan.
