RALEIGH, N.C. – The Johnson C. Smith University football team will travel to Durham County Stadium this Saturday (Oct. 20) to face the Shaw University Bears in a CIAA Southern Division matchup at Durham County Memorial Stadium in Durham, N.C. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m.
Shaw has designated Saturday's game as the Bears Breast Cancer Awareness Game with fans are encouraged to wear pink and support the fight against breast cancer.
This will be the 59th all-time meeting between the Bears and Golden Bulls. Shaw leads the series with a 32-24-2 overall record. In the past two meetings, Shaw and JCSU have split.
The Golden Bulls are 1-5 overall and 1-3 in CIAA action. JCSU suffered a 70-6 setback to Fayetteville State last weekend.
Antonio Wallace leads the quarterback unit with 649 yards on 59-of-122 pass completions and six touchdowns while
Janarius Hood has 15 receptions for 209 yards and three touchdowns.
Jachin Watkins is the leader on the ground with 61 carries for 178 yards and two touchdowns.
Basir Wright is the Golden Bulls leader defensively with 32 tackles, 1.5 tackle for loss and an interception.
In the Southern Division race, Shaw currently stands in fourth (1-1) while JCSU is fifth (0-2).
