Golden Bulls Back in Action at Winston-Salem State on Saturday

Charlotte, NC – Coming off their first Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) conference victory over Lincoln (Pa.) University, 29-16 last Saturday, the Johnson C. Smith University football team will look to carry its winning momentum to Winston-Salem, N.C. when the Golden Bulls clash with Winston-Salem State University in a CIAA contest and Southern Division opener on Saturday, Oct. 12 at Bowman Gray Stadium.

Kickoff is slated for 1:30 p.m.

Saturday's contest will be the 71th meeting between Smith and Winston-Salem State as the Rams lead the all-time series with an overall record of 45-22-3. The last time these two teams met was on Oct. 6, 2018 in Charlotte, N.C. where the Golden Bulls suffered a 34-14 setback.

Winston-Salem State welcomes the Golden Bulls with a 2-3 overall record. The Rams are coming off of a 16-15 loss to the Panthers of Virginia Union last weekend.

Despite their record, the Golden Bulls have been the most competitive in their running game. They average 5.3 yards per carry, having score 10 touchdowns on the ground so far on the season for an average of 199.8 per game.

Currently, JCSU ranks fifth in the league in rushing.
