JCSU Football Travels to Saint Augustine’s For Road Test

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Johnson C. Smith University football team will continue their road skid this weekend when the Golden Bulls travel to Raleigh N.C., to face Southern Division foe Saint Augustine's University on Saturday, Nov. 2 at the George Williams Athletic Complex for a Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) contest. Kickoff is slated for 1:00 p.m.

Smith will look to snap a three game losing streak after falling to Shaw last weekend. JCSU stands 2-6 overall, 1-4 in the league and 0-3 against division opponents this season.

Last week, the Golden Bulls led 13-9 at halftime in their Homecoming matchup against Shaw, but were outscored 27-6 in the second half. Antonio Wallace completed 16 of 26 passes for 138 yards and one touchdown but was intercepted twice and sacked four times. Linebacker David Francis finished with 13 tackles including two tackles for loss.

SAU welcomes Smith for its Homecoming game this weekend. The Falcons won on a 26-yard field goal with five seconds left as they stunned Southern Division leader Fayetteville State University last Saturday afternoon. The Broncos are the two-time defending Southern Division champs and entered the contest unbeaten in the conference.

The Falcons are 2-6 overall, 2-3 in the conference and 2-1 in the division.

Johnson C. Smith is 6-5 against Saint Augustine's University since 2008. The Falcons have fared well against the Golden Bulls at home, however, as they have posted a 4-1 mark. The average margin of victory in the four home wins is 17 points.

After their clash with the Falcons, the Golden Bulls will complete the 2019 season on Saturday, Nov. 9 when they travel to Salisbury, N.C. to take on the rival Livingstone College Blue Bears in the Commemorative Classic.
