Football travels to Virginia Union for non-conference action on Saturday

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Coming off a 34-31 victory over Benedict College last weekend, the Johnson C. Smith University football team will continue their 2019 season by traveling to Richmond, Va., to face the Virginia Union University Panthers on Saturday, Sept. 21 at 4 p.m. at historic Hovey Field.

Saturday's contest will be the 40th time both teams will meet on the gridiron as the all-time series is Union leading 9-30 overall. The last time these two teams met was on Nov. 8, 2018 in Charlotte, N.C. where the Golden Bulls suffered a 60-6 setback to the visiting Panthers.

Johnson C. Smith had three players to receive CIAA honors, including Emanuel Wilson whom was named Offensive Back of the week, Camerron Ellis earned Defensive Back of the Week and Damon Rice was chosen as Special Team of the Week.
