JCSU Football visits Virginia State on Saturday

CHARLOTTE, N.C.  – The Johnson C. Smith University football team returns to action this Saturday for its first Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) conference showdown as the Golden Bulls take on the Trojans of Virginia State University. Kickoff is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. at Rogers Stadium.

The Golden Bulls are coming off a 33-19 road loss at Virginia Union last weekend. Despite the loss, Smith held the Panthers to just zero points in the third quarter and held running back Tabyus Taylor for only 39 yards rushing.

Smith is 1-2 on the season and have only suffered setbacks to Wingate and VUU.

Virginia State welcomes the Golden Bulls with a 2-1 overall record. The Trojans are coming off of a 34-7 win over the St. Augustine's Falcons.

After beginning the series in 1921, the 34-12-5 record rules in favor of the Trojans.
