Bowen’s 21 points lifts Golden Bulls over Bears 69-60

CHARLOTTE - The Johnson C. Smith University women's basketball team took control in the fourth quarter on their way to an 69-60 win at C.C. Spaulding Gym on Wednesday night.

Le'Zarea Bowens registered another double figure scoring, shooting 7-of 16 from the field on her way to scoring 21 points.  She also hauled in 13 rebounds on the night. 

Maiya Green and Malia River each scored 16 and 15 points for the Golden Bulls.

The Golden Bulls took over in the second quarter, building the lead to as many as 10 points going into halftime, leading 34-24. 

In the fourth, Shaw went on a 16-5 scoring run to cut into the Golden Bulls lead 55-53 with 5:22 left. The Bears could get no closer than nine points the rest of the way, with JCSU earning the 69-60 win.

The win puts the Golden Bulls 13-9 overall and 8-4 in the CIAA.
