Golden Bulls Host Winston-Salem State on Saturday

Charlotte, N.C. – The Johnson C. Smith University football team will return home this Saturday to take on the southern division foe Winston-Salem State Rams.

JCSU enters the game after falling at CIAA northern division opponent Bowie State 44-7 on Saturday, Oct. 2.

The Golden Bulls quarterback Ollie Shepherd threw for 98 yards on a 11-of-22 effort, including a touchdown toss to Reggie Bryant in the loss. Running back Davion Nelson led JCSU on the ground with 46 yards rushing on 14 carriers while Bryant hauled in seven passes for 62 yards.

Defensively, JCSU's Tywann Jackson recorded six tackles while safety Jahmia Marcelle had his first interception of the season to go along with three tackles.

The Rams (0-5, 0-2 CIAA) enter the game with a road loss to Chowan 73-7. Against the Hawks, WSSU accumulated 131 yards of offense, including 44 rushing yards.

WSSU's Andrew Hayes finished the day with 26 yards on nine carries. Quarterback Cameron Lewis threw for 46 yards on a 5-of-12 effort while throwing one interception.

For the Rams defense, Elijah Banks led the way with nine tackles one sack and two tackle for loss.

Kickoff will be at 1:00 p.m. at JCSU's Irwin Belk Complex.
